NATIONAL PIZZA DAY IS TODAY


     Just heard today is National Pizza Day.   Don't know who decides what each day is a National Day, but seems lately each day has something interesting.  Needless to say, today is one of my favorites because I love Pizza.  Who doesn't?  I haven't met one soul who would say, "Not Me!"  Young and old alike will put one hot slice in hand and down it in no time.  


     As our in house family chef, it is the easiest meal one can prepare or call in to pick up.  With this season of our closed-in lifestyle, it is easy to run to the freezer, check the food stock, and to my surprise, I will have one more to pop in the oven.  I "doctor" it up, of course!  I might put banana peppers and extra cheese on it or veggies on another, to the family's choice.  

     So this day has a special meaning looking back thinking, 'there is no way I can count the slices I have put away".  In past days of serving teens in our Young Group, it upped the count quite a bit.  I always loved to look back at the door and see our helpers walk in with stacks of 10 boxes each to serve those hungry kids.  Never forget one kid would always count how many he put away and win the count for the night until we discovered he counted the ones he just ate the tops off and tossed the rest, Oops Cheating! That's the life of a Youth Worker, never a dull moment.  One day you will look back and cherish those days when some kid calls or writes telling you how much it meant to them realizing the time and effort you put into their lives, little did you know.

So Happy National Pizza Day go allow yourself a slice or two!!!

                                                       MY THOUGHTS TODAY.... Just sitting here this morning after so many things going through my mind. I am a "Control Person." Can you relate? I bet you can! I want to place everything where it is SUPPOSED to be, my way. These past two years, with all the world's changes, oh my, it is feeling so out of control. I don't have all the answers.
